Storytime: Removable Lives
R. Galvan & Magda Leon, 2025.
Live performance, scripts, Tyvek, acrylic, paper, mylar, elastic, inkjet, thread, tape, cushion, foldable stools, duration: 25 minutes.
Seeking to animate the tensions of border crossings and the immigrant experience, one performer, acting as a government administrator, repeatedly asks, “Why did you come to the United States?” While the other, portraying an unaccompanied minor, responds with anonymized testimonies. Positioned on a small stage, the administrator’s elevated stance heightens the power imbalance, building toward an aggressive interrogation.
